NEW YORK:

Taking a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan gets you one of the best views of New York - The Big Apple.

You get a great view of of New York in all it's glory, with the Empire State building and Chrysler Building mixed amongst the many skyscrapers on view.

You may want to pay a visit to the Empire State building, but be prepared for a long queue normally. Instead, why not go up the top of the Rockerfeller Center where the views of New York are just as dramatic, plus you get to see the Empire State from there. It's a lot less busy and the building has an observation area on the 86th floor, plus it hosts shops and cafes as well as the NBC television studios.

A visit to New York surely merits a visit to Central Park - a giant oasis slap bang in the centre of Manhattan. You can wander the footpaths, past beautifully maintained flower gardens and ponds. New Yorkers love the park as much in the Winter when ice skating is popular. Hire a bike, relax on the great lawn, row a boat on the lake, or visit the Central Park Zoo .... there's certainly plenty to keep you occupied in this New York haven.

There's so much to see and do in New York you're always on the go. It really is like you see in the movies, with towering buildings, noises and smells to stimulate your senses, and those famous yellow taxi cabs honking their horns and shooting past at regular intervals.

Worthy of a visit would be the Metropolitan Museum of Art with it's fine displays of modern art and antiquities, the shopping areas in the East and West Villages, with their antique shops and bohemian boutiques, or for a more contemporary shopping experience fit in a visit to the giant stores and malls like Bloomingdales and the huge Schwarz toy store .

A visit to New York wouldn't be complete without a closeup view of the Statue of Liberty, which you get to see by taking the Staten Island Ferry or the Circle Line Ferry that goes to Ellis Island. You can also explore by water taxi, and a ticket allows you to hop on and off at various stops throughout the day enabling you to visit many of the main attraction New York has to offer.
